About: Gregory A. Kaiser

Gregory A. Kaiser, Esq.

While living in Hollywood, Florida attending college, my father took ill.

I immediately withdrew from all of my classes to go back home to New York and help take care of my father. I did this until he passed away from cancer. Over a decade later, my mother was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. Again, I left what I was doing to return to New York to care for her. When she needed more help than I could handle on my own, I brought her to my younger brother’s house in Virginia. I took the day shift, caring for every need she had, while my brother and his family helped out with the night shift until her passing.

Dealing first-hand with the significant health challenges and long-term care issues each of my parents faced has taught me so much. The experience of being not only the son, but the caregiver, the decision maker, the attorney, and the support system for my entire family has taught me more about the journey my clients face than any formal “book learning” could ever do.

It also taught me the paramount importance of having estate planning documents. There were countless times I needed legal authority to act for each of my parents and, without their estate planning documents, I would have been unable to make critical decisions. Perhaps, even more important than the creation of their estate plan was ensuring that their plan was up to date.

I know I am not alone in what I went through. Many clients have shared how life altering events like the ones I went through have affected them and their loved ones. Oftentimes, the illness comes out of nowhere, suddenly catching them off guard. There are so many things that happen in our lives that can have an impact on what might presently be in your estate plan. Beyond that, many of us have only thought about our estate plan and not about the critical elder care plan we need that can guide us through the long-term care challenges we may face. I don’t want anyone to face uncertainty or be unprepared, just because I haven’t seen them in a few years and they forgot to update their planning.

That’s why I started the Client Care Program.

Through this program, together, we can ensure your estate plan reflects what you truly want. We can ensure it changes and adapts to each of your specific circumstances. We can be “on call” in an emergency because, of all the things to be concerned with when life takes a sudden turn, I don’t want your estate plan to be one of those things. You can learn more about this program from my clients by clicking here.

Experiencing hands on the terminal illnesses of both of my parents has helped shape my core values. It has helped me define what matters, and bring this to my estate planning and elder care practice. Listening to the individual needs of my clients matters. Making sure they are prepared for what may lie ahead matters. Ensuring each client’s estate plan reflects their wishes matters.

So, I ask you, what matters to you?

We encourage you to learn more about my Client Care Program.
