About: Karen Walker
Karen Walker was born in Burlington, Iowa and moved to Venice with her family when she was 5. She attended Venice Elementary, Venice Jr High and Venice High School with most of the same classmates. She also attended Manatee Community College. Karen proudly still maintains close relationships with many of those from her childhood.
After college, Karen started her career in banking that lasted over 40 years. Starting out as a teller, she climbed her way up to a branch manager and then an area manager. She worked her way to Senior VP and managed a department of 35 people in residential lending. Missing the connections with clients on a daily basis, Karen went back to being a Branch Manager. She thrives on helping people reach their financial goals and has taught financial literacy to students and adults in the Sarasota community. Karen’s passion for helping and educating people is a great fit with the core principles of WTPELF. Her considerable knowledge of banking and financial matters is a real asset when it comes to properly funding revocable trusts; making sure beneficiary designations are properly done; repositioning assets when Medicaid planning; and completing beneficiary claim forms in probate and trust administrations.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family. She takes road trips and loves to search for “treasures” along the way. In the cooler months, Karen and her dog Alice can be found camping in any state park!
